About me
Kathryn McClellan, MD, MSc
I’m a family physician and Asheville native. After nearly 15 years practicing in the San Francisco Bay Area, I returned home in 2021. Caring for people in my own community—providing high quality primary care in Asheville—is deeply meaningful to me.
I believe primary care works best when there is time, trust, and a real partnership. Direct primary care allows me to offer comprehensive, personalized care and to build lasting relationships with my patients. My role is to understand the science, explain it clearly, and help you apply it to your life—so we can make thoughtful decisions together and work toward your health goals.
I earned my medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine and completed my residency in Family and Community Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. I am board certified in Family Medicine and hold a master’s degree in Reproductive and Sexual Health Research from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
My clinical interests include preventive care, evidence-based medicine, reproductive health, LGBTQ+ health, and perimenopause and menopause care. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, gardening, and lifting weights.
